The AOC 15/50 is a world leading 50 kW Wind Turbine. The AOC 15/50 can be used for businesses, commercial and industrial facilities, big box stores, institutions, (hospitals, schools, government agencies), agriculture and farms, municipalities and community centers. The AOC 15/50 has been installed worldwide including in Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, Ireland, Scotland, Russia, and India. This turbine is the evolution of a design that has been field¬tested around the world for more than 20 years and it has undergone the United States government National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) testing.

AOC 15/50

The AOC 15/50 wind turbine is the evolution of the rugged and reliable Enertech E44, hundreds of which were installed in the 1980's and are still running today. Independent analysis and testing at NREL, the Netherlands Energy Research Foundation (ECN), RISO Laboratory in Denmark, the Atlantic Wind Test Site (AWTS) on Prince Edward Island and other sites around the world verifies that the AOC 15/50 wind turbine generators high availability in even the harshest weather conditions

The AOC 15/50 is designed for simplicity to minimize maintenance requirements and to be able to safely operate in normal and extreme conditions. The AOC 15/50 is designed to be a reliable and low-maintenance wind turbine. In this regard it has several features to enhance its reliability:

• The blades are very strong and lightweight made under a licensed patent with the U.S. governments NREL. The blades have evolved from initially being wood/epoxy blades to being built using a mould and a resin injection system, and are now approximately 280 lbs which is significantly lighter than the original 330 lbs. Having strong and lightweight blades makes it easier to start and stop and leads to enhanced air flow resistance and less wear on the wind turbine.

• There are four braking systems, including tip brakes, a parking brake,  a dynamic brake and stall regulated blades which makes the braking process faster and safer. The dynamic brake makes the braking process of the turbine faster, and essentially safer by helping the tip brakes slow the turbine to a complete stop.

• A rotary transformer results in increased longevity and reliability.

  • One AOC 15/50 is capable of producing enough electricity to power 10-   30 average North American homes depending on the wind resource.
  • Available in both 60hz and 50hz models.
  • Constant, low speed blade rotation (64 rpm) produces minimal noise.
  • Turbine freely rotates to align with wind direction.
  • On a site with an average annual wind speed of 6.7m/s (15 mph) the AOC 15/50 will displace approximately 156 tonnes   of  greenhouse gasses.

The AOC 15/50 produces energy at competitive rates for distributed generation, village electrification, diesel-based utilities and purchased power displacement for agriculture, businesses, industry and municipalities.
